The Academic and Student Affairs Division of the system office works with system institutions to identify and meet shared priorities so they can better serve their students and communities.
This newsletter is used as the primary communication tool delivering ASA news to Chief Academic and Student Affairs Officers, Deans, Business/Industry Outreach Administrators, Center of Excellence contacts, Qualiy Matters Coordinators, and system office staff. Information is posted daily about current projects, upcoming events, meetings, conferences, (including agendas in the calendar function) division news, and deadline alerts. Ron Anderson Named Vice Chancellor for Academic and Student Affairs
“Ron Anderson brings to the role of vice chancellor a rich set of leadership experiences that are absolutely critical to student success at all of our colleges and universities,” said Steven Rosenstone, chancellor of Minnesota State Colleges and Universities. “He will help deliver on our commitment to provide access to an extraordinary education for all Minnesotans.”
Anderson has served as president of Century College since 2011. Previously, he served Century College as vice president of academic affairs and vice president of finance and administration. At Capella University, his roles included vice president of curriculum, assessment, and academic records, vice provost of academic affairs, and interim vice president of elearning. He served Minneapolis Community and Technical College as associate vice president of academic and student affairs, dean of academic affairs, associate dean of academic affairs, and director of research and planning. Dr. Anderson taught for ten years in the psychology and educational psychology programs at the University of Minnesota and St. Catherine University. He holds a bachelor’s degree from Saint Olaf College and a master’s degree and doctorate from the University of Minnesota.
The Minnesota State Colleges and Universities system includes 24 two-year community and technical colleges and seven state universities serving more than 410,000 students. It is the fifth-largest higher education system of its kind in the United States.
Assessment for Course Placement RFP Process
As of 2006, the Minnesota State Colleges and Universities system has been using a common system-wide assessment for course placement. In anticipation of the contract expiration date of June 30, 2016, MnSCU will be going out on public bid for a common assessment for course placement instrument that best meets the needs of all the system’s institutions.
